The home of the best mother of the bride outfits and collections for special occasions

Saturday 6th January. Here’s wishing all our customers a very Happy New Year. 2018 has started with a bang. There have been several deliveries of the most delightful mother of the bride outfits, many of which are on our Facebook Page. A reminder that we are now open Monday to Saturday from 9.30 to 5.00 and currently closed on Sundays and as normal we don’t do appointments. In fact we hate appointments. Why would we expect you to choose something which could well be a fortnight’s wages, in a strict time limit? Seems ludicrous to us. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have it from 2 of our mutual suppliers that the operations of Butterfly Bridals in Stockton on Tees have closed their mother of the bride outfits side. We wish them well in their primary marketplace of wedding and bridesmaid gowns. Teesside ladies are well within our area for the best possible selection and service. Many such bridal shops seem to think that a quick sojourn into the mother of the bride market could be very lucrative. How mistaken they are. To explain, a bridal shop tends to buy a handful of new season gowns then takes orders from them. Little up-front expense on that sort of activity and to be honest, not many styles left hanging in stock once the season is over. On the other hand a retailer of Mother of the Bride outfits generally has to place very hefty orders some 3 to 4 months in advance of each season. This is probably into to the hundreds of thousand of pounds worth of orders. There is no way any shop can have a full sell-through of all the orders so they know they will have to drastically reduce prices of some when the season has blown past. In fact a good number are actually weighed in at a Cash for Clothes place. Like I said, this business is not for the faint-hearted. Only a true retailer of mother of the bride type clothing, ie not a bridal shop who gets a couple of M.O.B. collections into shop, can offer the service you deserve, but they too won’t get rich quickly either……

Pricing of goods We have been told by several customers of some outrageous prices being charged for exactly the same styles we sell. Having a fancy shop with a fancy sounding name doesn’t mean that an outfit they stock is one that only they have. We all have more or less the same suppliers and buy more or less the same styles. Our shop is old. It’s not a beautiful building by any means. However it’s stocked with the same collections as other shops throughout the UK and we provide a service which we believe is absolutely first class. We own the shop, we don’t pay rates so have an advantage in our pricing policy to pass the savings onto our customers. For those people who are taken in by any shop having an in-house cafe, for instance, then we’ll be happy to make a cuppa for you at no cost and if it’s a proper meal, or even a daytime snack you want then you only have to go to the top of the village green right outside the shop and into the Masons Arms where you will get fantastic food at a good price.
